Ashland Builds Butane Conversion Unit
ASHLAND, Ky. - Ashland Petroleum Co. expects to complete work next month on a 4,000 barrel per day butane isomerization unit at its Catlettsburg, Ky., refinery.
The $11 million unit will convert excess butanes, backed out because of lower gasoline vapor pressure required under state and federal guidelines.
Constructiion of the unit, which will convert butanes into isobutanes, was started in March. The isobetanes will be used as feedstock for producing additional volumes of gasoline.
