Hughes Markets bags distinction of being first to have storewide recycling program
The largest privately owned Los Angeles-based supermarket chain. Hughes Markets Inc., became the first local supermarket to implement a storewide recycling program last week, launching a multi-tiered environmental protection plan throughout its 47-store chain.
"We feel that we need to address our responsibility to do something for the environment," said Roger K. Hughes, chairman of the board.
