Videotex booster, local distributors exchange lawsuits

Local distributors of an ambitious-but-fledgling information retrieval network have charged in a lawsuit that they were duped and deceived by a former San Diegan with a history of business troubles.

But Marlan C. Matson, the former San Diegan and president of Data-Tel Video Text Inc., has filed his own suits, claiming he was the true victim of the relationship. The distributors botched his San Diego network and muddied his reputation, Matson charged.
