SNP leaders yesterday denied leaking the news that maverick MSP Margo MacDonald has Parkinson's Disease.

Party bosses were furious the leak - just after she quit as an SNP candidate - had blown their strategy for dealing with MacDonald apart.

She stepped down after claiming she had been the victim of a whispering campaign, and blamed one-time friend Kenny MacAskill, the party's transport and tourism spokesman.
