This new addition to Rounder's Alan Lomax Collection of Folk and Primitive Music was recorded by ethnomusicologist Alain Denielou between 1950 and 1958. The recordings were, in the most part, made in the environs of Benares (now Varanasi) and Madras (now Chenai), India.
