The growing number of airline companies has increased the capacity of air transport business in the country. Meanwhile, the number of air passengers has declined as a result of the crisis in 1997. Before the crisis there were around 13 million air passengers a year. Now the number has dropped to around 8 million a year. Competition, therefore is much tighter with the increase in carrying capacity while the number of passengers declined.
