HE seemed to have rescued Caroline Aherne from the depths of despair after she suffered bouts of depression and alcoholism which ended in a suicide attempt.
But the comedy star's ninemonth relationship with wealthy Australian businessman Brett Whitford appeared to be in tatters last night.
