MASSIVE investment on infrastructure and new ships has led to increased competition for lucrative Irish Sea freight traffic at ports in the region.
And the competition is set to intensify with new facilities being developed at Holyhead and Birkenhead with port operators determined to win a larger slice of the business.
Last week, the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company (MDHC) fired the first shot in the latest round of the ``ferry wars'' between Merseyside and the North Wales ports of Holyhead and Mostyn.
