SANDY STEWART has captained Airdrie through promotion, relegation, administration and now liquidation.

Thirteen years which have now ended in the death of his club. And at a personal cost to him and his family of pounds 38,000.

That was the sum awarded by an industrial tribunal to the defender who signed on a free transfer from Kilmarnock in 1989.
