SAN MATEO, Calif. _ With its stark white brick tower set dramatically against a blue sky, green fields and wave-whipped cliffs, the Pigeon Point lighthouse is an eye-catching sight from Highway 1's serpentine course along the San Mateo County coast.
The only one with its design in California, the striking tower has become everyone's idea of what a lighthouse should be.
But age is taking its toll.
