MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Gov. Scott McCallum signed into law Tuesday legislation inspired by a 6-year-old boy who was struck and killed after he stumbled in front of a school bus.

The new law requires school buses to be equipped with retractable crossing gates within two years.

Joey Chojnacki, of Oak Creek, died Sept. 19, 2000, when he stumbled in front of a bus.
