May 10, 2002, marks the 125th anniversary of the opening of what is now the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Pl. I). Originally called the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art, it was an offspring of the Centennial Exhibition, which opened in Philadelphia on May 10, 1876.
