`Haven Village' is not a name to be found on any map or plan. But it certainly exists as a place. I have just invented the name `Haven Village' to describe this interesting area.

The village is clustered around Haven Green, which does appear on the maps, in the west London borough of Ealing. On Carey's map of 1786 the hamlet is named `Ealing Haven'. Why the word `haven' is used in this context is a mystery but it has stuck. Haven Green is about seven acres in extent and roughly rectangular.
