Stratford could settle its long dispute with Bridgeport over Sikorsky Memorial Airport by purchasing the airfield from the city, but a conflict with the Federal Aviation Administration may not be avoided.

At stake is a plan to make safety improvements to the runway that airport manager John Ricci said will make the facility more viable to a niche market of charter services and corporate flyers.
