Jacob Bruce Hyde needed an Eagle Scout project and his school, West Los Angeles Baptist, needed a library.

The merger proved to be beneficial to all.

``It was obvious that we were in the process of putting together a library and (the labor) would have been very costly,'' said West L.A. Baptist Principal Jimmy Lennon Jr.

Jacob, now a freshman, along with his family and fellow members of Troop 243, went to work shelving and cataloging the 4,000 to 5,000 books the small private school purchased to start its first library.
