The median age is climbing and the birth rate is slowing in the Conejo Valley and Simi Valley, census figures released today show.

And while most residents range from 35 to 54 years old, the number of senior citizens, those 65 and older, is on the rise.

In Agoura Hills the number of households with people 65 and older doubled since 1990, from 1.5 percent to 3 percent. The number of 65-and-older households in Simi Valley rose from 3.2 to 4.9 percent over the past decade.
