More than a dozen San Fernando Valley elementary schools registered double-digit gains on the Stanford 9 Achievement Test, while secondary schools posted more modest improvements, according to results released Monday.

Like schools across Los Angeles and statewide, elementary campuses in the Valley showed widespread gains in math, reading and language but many still remained below the state average.
