SINGAPORE, Feb 27, 2002

Kirin Brewery Co.'s acquisition of a minority stake in San Miguel moved closer to completion after the Philippines company's shareholders approved the deal on Wednesday.

San Miguel announced that company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. had signed a 2-year agreement with the Philippine government through the Presidential Commission on Good Government to allow the state enough representation in the company, the key sticking point.
