ROCKINGHAM, N.C. -. -- Danny Lawrence is excited yet anxious about today.

The head engine builder for Richard Childress Racing and his compatriots face a day unlike any in recent years because of a new NASCAR rule that limits teams to one engine per weekend.

So instead of using an engine for practice, changing it for qualifying, then putting in a new one for today's Subway 400 at North Carolina Speedway, teams will have to make the engine last and remain fast.
