SPANISH nurses have been recruited to help a Merseyside hospital during the winter crisis.
The 14 men and women started work at Whiston hospital this month.
They are the first Spanish nurses to start work in Merseyside since an agreement was set up between the Spanish government and the NHS two years ago.
Extra wards, supplying approximately 40 new beds, were opened in January to cope with the winter rush.
