Sir: While I would not wish to defend the Rhodesian regime replaced by Zanu-PF and Robert Mugabe in 1980, there was one aspect in which they were absolutely correct. When faced with demands for "one man, one vote", they looked to the rest of Africa and observed: "One man. One vote. Once."
