Risa Brainin has been appointed interim artistic director at Shakespeare Santa Cruz in California. Brainin currently holds the position of associate artistic director of Missouri Repertory Theatre in Kansas City. She will begin her two-season stint in January while Paul Whitworth, the festival's current artistic director, takes a sabbatical through the end of 2003.
