On Saturday, November 3, festivities at the 28th Annual Sweet Potato Festival in downtown Vardaman will kick off early. Held each year the first Saturday in November, in "The Sweet Potato Capital of the World," a distinction officially bestowed on the town by Governor Bill Waller, the Vardaman festival celebrates the Mississippi Sheet Potato harvest season with a day filled with old-fashioned family fun that is open to the public and free of charge.
