DENVER -- Getting overweight patients to achieve sustained weight loss is tough, and it is twice as hard when patients have type 2 diabetes, Dr. Samuel Klein said at a satellite conference held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Endocrine Society

Aim for a realistic goal, said Dr. Klein, the William H. Danforth Professor of Medicine and Nutritional Science and director of the Center for Human Nutrition at Washington University St. Louis. Even a 5% body weight loss can yield significant medical benefits in obese patients with type 2 diabetes.
