In rites highlighting its bridge-building success in ecumenism, the nation's biggest Lutheran denomination has installed Mark S. Hanson as its new presiding bishop in Chicago. The former bishop of St. Paul, Minnesota, begins his six-year term on November 1 at the head of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
