Have you ever heard of the island nation of Madagascar? Mada-who? Madagascar, found off the southeast coast of Africa, is the world's fourth largest island and home to many unique species of plants and animals. If you have heard of Madagascar, you have probably heard of the 32 species of lemurs that are found naturally only there. As a result of Madagascar's separation from mainland Africa for at least 100 million years, this island has been a safe haven for animals such as lemurs to evolve.
