To the Editor:
Having read past letters on being called American, let me add my two cents. "Political correctness" has nothing to do with it. It simply is a matter of geography and history.
The two continents of the Western Hemisphere, North America and South America, are commonly referred to as the Americas. You could also apply the same criteria to Central America, located between the two continents, being called "America."
