THE LIPOSOME COMPANY GRANTED 15TH U.S. PATENT

PRINCETON, N.J., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Liposome Company (NASDAQ: LIPO) announced today that it has been granted U.S. Patent No. 4,885,172 for a Novel Composition for Targeting, Storing and Loading of Liposomes.

Liposomes are microscopic lipid bubbles that can be used to encapsulate drugs and deliver them preferentially to disease sites. The potential advantages of using liposomes include decreased drug side effects and increased potency.
