There was a time when Tang pottery figures - especially horses - were the province of the super-rich.
Sometimes you would see them in upmarket Hollywood movies on a long low sideboard with an impressionist painting on the wall above.
They were obvious symbols of wealth implying that their owner had made it in bankable terms.
But the horses had always had a certain cachet. And we should remember that in Tang dynasty China (618-906AD) the wealthy and the privileged surrounded themselves both in life and in death with ...
