Ruling on an issue of first impression in the state, the South Carolina Supreme Court held the detailed provisions in state law for enacting and amending local zoning ordinances precluded citizen referendums on zoning matters (I'On, LLC v. Town of Mt. Pleasant, 526 S.E.2d 716).
