Although several studies have examined the arthropod communities that are associated with bats in Texas caves (Kohls & Jellison 1948; Ryckman 1956), there has not been a study of organisms that co-exist with bats in man-made structures for the state. In fact, little work has been conducted to date on bat guano communities in buildings (Palmer & Gunier 1975); the only two studies reported are from New Hampshire (Bernath & Kunz 1981) and Indiana (Whitaker et al. 1991).
