The VIII Paralympic Winter Games, March 7-16, 2002, will feature up to 1,100 athletes and team officials from 35 countries. Venues throughout the Wasatch Front will host 26 events in three sports and four disciplines-alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, and ice sledge hockey. The Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) is the first winter organizing committee to completely integrate the organization of both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
