Noise pollution on the increase; ENVIRONMENT: Swansea council introduces a 'fast track' approach as complaints soar.(News)
|
Byline: JOANNE ATKINSON
ENVIRONMENTAL health departments are being inundated with complaints about noise.
Stereos and the noise from neighbours carrying out DIY tasks are said to be the major reason why a team has to be called out to investigate.
Last year Swansea council received 2,354 calls alone compared to just 1,600 in 1999-2000, and so far this year 1,637 complaints have already been received doubling the level in the past two years.
It is a picture repeated across Wales and it is also has health implications.
