The Omani training ship the Shabab Oman has won the coveted Tall Ships Race trophy.

Shabab Oman, the Arab world's only entrant in the Tall Ships Race 2001 will return home in October a winner. The ship, which left Oman on 5 May to take part in the Cutty Sark challenge was awarded the coveted trophy having been voted the vessel which had most successfully fostered and improved international relations during the course of the challenge in which 26 nations, 102 vessels and a total of 7,000 participants pitted their wits against the sea.
