Telecel, a Vodafone affiliate, has signed a two-year agreement with Nortel Networks to supply third-generation (3G) universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) equipment and services in Portugal.

Nortel Networks will supply an end-to-end UMTS solution based on its wireless access and packet core solutions. These solutions use Nortel Networks extensive experience in code division multiple access (CDMA) networks and packet switching technology.
