Henry Ford Health System, built around the concept of placing hospitals, physicians and a health insurer under one corporate umbrella and led by industry icon Gail Warden, lost nearly $24 million on operations for the first quarter ended March 31 and is on track to far exceed last year's operating loss of $43.9 million.
Last year, the system earned a net profit of $33.8 million on total revenue of $2 billion because of some $77.7 million in nonoperating income.
