In 1980 we moved to Northern California from Southern California. We read about the all-American light draft horse--the Morgan. The article appeared in the Small Farmers Journal, Summer, 1980, Vol. 4, No. 3. The author of the piece, Norm Phillips, told of how he had been acquainted with the old-type Morgan for 60 years. He spoke of how he had driven and worked them before, in his opinion, they were ruined by saddle clubs and show people.
