Aug. 28--Employees of the Shoney's restaurant on Macon Road received a rude awakening Monday when they showed up at 5 a.m. to begin preparing bacon, eggs and coffee.

They learned the Nashville, Tenn.-based company has shuttered the 5,044-square-foot eatery's doors forever. The 3306 Macon Road location has been open since 1964.

"We closed this morning before we opened for breakfast," said Ron Weisenfeld, area director for Shoney's.
