PERHAPS not the greatest story ever told but certainly a significant chunk of Coventry's history will be unveiled to the public for the first time tomorrow.

The 1,000-year-old tale of how an earl and his lady founded a simple monastery for 24 Benedictine monks and their abbot - and of how that monastery grew to incorporate a powerful priory cathedral - is told in the city's new Visitor Centre in the city's Priory Gardens.

The lord and lady were, of course, Leofric and Godiva.
