Thailand's engines slowing

Shrinking exports, lower foreign direct investment and economic slowdowns in the US, Japan and the European Union will impact on Thailand this year. GDP growth forecasts for 2001 have been scaled back to 2.2% from 3.5% by UBS Warburg and to 2.5% from 3.5% by Merrill Lynch.
