STUDENTS are failing to break out of the traditional sex divide when they choose university courses.
Women are more likely to choose arts, humanities, languages and teaching courses, while men tend to opt for science, maths and engineering, according to new research.
But there have been breakthroughs in such areas as medicine, veterinary science and pharmacy, where numbers of male and female students are roughly equal.
