For what it's worth (and for all its popularity), I don't really think Dvorak's Violin Concerto is one of his most compelling works. For those who have heard the composer's short symphonic poems, the Concerto will be familiar ground; it's filled with folk tunes and folk references, mostly bucolic in nature, sometimes seeming a bit patchwork in construction.
