Ecogas, controlled by Windon Equities (97%) and Temuco investors (3%), will construct the TransChile gas pipeline, which will link Concepcion and Puerto Montt in the next years, serving 1.8mil people. The project will demand investments of US$130mil, of which US$100mil in the gas pipeline and US$30mil in gas networks. Construction will begin in 2003. The 520-km pipeline will supply gas to Chillan, Los Angeles, Nacimiento, Temuco, Valdivia, Osorno and Puerto Montt within the next 6 years.
