With recent rains and flooded basements, Greater Cincinnati homeowners have lost many heirlooms and valuables to swiftly rising waters. According to Douglas Eisele, owner of Old World Restorations Inc., Fairfax, victims of water damage can possibly preserve their family photographs, heirlooms and art works.

Eisele advises rinsing wet objects with water or fine hose spray. Remove dry silt with soft brushes or blot with damp soft cloths. Over-energetic cleaning can cause further damage. Dry with clean cloth. Use plastic or rubber gloves to protect ...
