ALTHOUGH IT IS still under debate in Congress, President George W. Bush's support for increased oil drilling in Alaska is a factor that could mean increased demand for oil field chemicals.

While the Bush Administration's proposal to allow drilling in the Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge was, according to some producers and analysts, "doomed" by the recent Democratic takeover of the Senate, the White House is still encouraging the US oil industry to expand exploration.
