Calories In vs Calories Out: How Much Exercise Is Needed?

How far would an average-size woman have to jog to burn off the calories in one-half pint of Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream? Two miles? Three?

At 546 calories, the ice cream needs almost seven miles to be burned off, equivalent to jogging at a comfortable pace, non-stop, for one hour. For a brisk walker it translates into about one-and-one-half hours of walking. Compare this to the 15 minutes it took to eat the ice cream. Is it worth it?
