More than 90 countries have agreed a pact to minimise or eliminate the use of a dozen persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
The chemicals include a number of pesticides such as Aldrin, Chlordane, DDT, Dieldrin, Endrin, Heptaclor, Mirex, hexachlorobenzene and Toxaphene. The remainder of the list includes dioxins, furans and polychlorinated biphenols.
