Flames 1, Campton United Navy 1: The under-13 NSA Flames recently spent part of a weekend in St. Charles playing the under- 14 Campton United Navy to a 1-1 tie. This brings the Flames' record to 2-0-1 in league play.
The first half saw both sides evenly matched, with play switching back and forth frequently. The Flames' defense of Julie Kofron, Randi Kelly, Molly Griganavicius, Amber Dieterich, Mary Varoni and Molly Williams limited Campton to 3 shots. While the first two went wide, the third found the net to give Campton a 1-0 lead.

Ballot for the mallet Should Wisconsin junk its election of judges? On Feb. 6, primary election voters across the state will nominate two of the seven candidates vying for a single seat on Wisconsin's Supreme Court. It's pretty unusual that a judicial election, even for the state's highest court, would draw so many contenders. In fact, of the 38 judgeships on general election ballots around the state on March 19, only 10 are being contested. Yet Wisconsin persists in claiming to have an elective judiciary. Is that tradition worth preserving, or is it plagued with too many problems? The State Bar of Wisconsin takes up the issue for discussion next Friday at its Midwinter Convention in Milwaukee.
