The National Park Service has recommended that the former Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville be turned into a $15.6 million national park.

The area contains historic and scientific items, including approximately 85 acres of remains dating back to A.D. 700, said Rep. Marion Berry, D Ark., in a letter to President Bush.

The park would include a museum and visitor center, research center and curatorial center. The goal of the park would be to interpret the Mississippian culture of the lower Mississippi Delta region. The park's annual budget would be $1.05 ...
