Boston's Dance Umbrella, New England's major modern dance presenter, closed at the end of April, citing severe financial distress. The organization, which was founded twenty years ago by Jeremy Alliger, presented its final show about a year after Alliger and the Umbrella's board decided to part ways. Boston native Sean Curran brought his company to the Emerson Majestic Theater to ring down the curtain. Also on the final bill was dance theater duo Larry Goldhuber and Heidi Latsky. The performance marked the end of an epoch.
